Principal’s Page

Dear Tarkington families,

I am incredibly honored and excited to begin this school year as the new principal of Booth Tarkington Elementary—home of the Tigers! After serving as assistant principal, I know firsthand what a special place Tarkington is, and I’m thrilled to continue working alongside our amazing students, families, and staff in this new role.

At Tarkington, we are deeply committed to providing every student with a supportive and inclusive environment where they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Through our focus on Authentic Learning and Inclusionary Practices, our students become active owners of their learning, engage meaningfully with peers both locally and globally, and feel a true sense of belonging within our school community.

We are also proud to be a No Excuses University (NEU) school. This means we believe that all students deserve the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college and future success—should they choose that path. NEU fosters a culture of universal achievement and brings a college-going mindset to everything we do. [Click here to learn more about NEU at Tarkington in English or Spanish.]

By working together with our dedicated families and community partners, we can ensure our students are equipped to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and compassionate citizens. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and Tiger pride.

With gratitude,

Jillian Dorn
