NEU Tarkington Scholarship Application due April 17, 2020

The NEU Tarkington Scholarship will provide a $500 scholarship to a former Tarkington student. This scholarship is for current high school seniors who will be enrolling in college, university or higher education coursework for the fall 2020 school year. In addition to submitting academic records, applicants will be asked to write an essay in response to the question: How has attending a No Excuses University school impacted your choice to attend college?

Applicant Qualifications:
Must have attended Tarkington beginning with the year it was accepted as a No Excuses University school; 2008-2009 through present day. Must be accepted and plan to enroll in a college, university or higher education program

Along with the Application Form, applicant must submit:
–Copy of high school transcript
–Copy of ACT or SAT Score Report
–Copy of letter of acceptance from a college, university or higher education program
—1 Letter of Recommendation
—Submit a typed essay of 300-500 words responding to the question: How has attending a No Excuses University school impacted your choice to attend college?

Deadline
Submission deadline: April 17, 2020 (extended from the original April 9th date due to current circumstances)
Late applications will not be accepted.

How Scholarship Applications are Judged and Selected:
A group of students and teachers will blindly determine the scholarship winner based on the following criteria:
–presentation of application (spelling, grammar, etc.)
–quality of essay question response
–academic achievement

The Scholarship winner will be notified in May. The winner may be asked to speak at a Tarkington school event.
